About Us
Where Tradition Meets Elegance
Some stories begin not in boardrooms, but in the quiet rhythm of a needle passing through fabric. They begin in the patient hands of artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations, preserving traditions that refuse to fade with time.
Lajjaa Clothing is one such story.
Born in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Lajjaa is a celebration of India's timeless craftsmanship—bringing together the beauty of handmade Chikankari, Banarasi weaves, Kota Doriya, and other treasured textiles for women who appreciate elegance with meaning.
We believe clothing should do more than simply look beautiful. It should carry history, honour craftsmanship, and make the person wearing it feel connected to something far greater than fashion.
Our Story
Lajjaa Clothing was founded on 26 May 2023 by Prachi, during one of the most uncertain chapters of her life.
After spending years in the corporate world, she found herself searching for something that felt more meaningful—something that created value, preserved heritage, and reflected the grace she had always admired in Indian craftsmanship.
With no family business background and very little knowledge of the fashion industry, the journey was anything but easy. There were doubts, mistakes, long nights, and countless moments of wondering whether the dream would ever become reality.
What transformed those fears into courage was the unwavering support of two women—her mother and her sister.Their belief became the foundation on which Lajjaa was built.
From the very beginning, the vision was never simply to sell clothing.
It was to create a brand that could preserve India's handmade textile traditions while helping more women discover the beauty of authentic craftsmanship.
Every collection launched since then has been chosen with one purpose—to ensure that centuries-old artistry continues to be appreciated, worn, and celebrated rather than forgotten.
Today, Lajjaa proudly curates handcrafted textiles from artisan communities across India, connecting their extraordinary work with women who value quality, authenticity, and timeless design.

The Craft We Carry
Chikankari — The Poetry of Needle and Thread
Originating in the royal city of Lucknow, Chikankari is among India's most delicate embroidery traditions.
Each motif is embroidered entirely by hand using fine needles and cotton thread, creating floral vines, paisleys, jaalis, and intricate patterns that appear almost weightless on fabric.
Every stitch reflects patience, precision, and hundreds of years of craftsmanship.
At Lajjaa, every Chikankari piece is selected not simply for its beauty, but for the authenticity of the handwork and the skill behind every thread.
Banarasi — India's Timeless Weaving Legacy
For centuries, the looms of Varanasi have produced some of the world's most celebrated textiles.
Rich zari work, intricate motifs, luxurious textures, and masterful weaving techniques have made Banarasi fabrics symbols of celebration and heritage.
Our Banarasi collection honours this remarkable legacy while offering silhouettes that feel elegant, versatile, and relevant for the modern woman.
Our Fabrics, Chosen with Intention
Every fabric we curate is selected for its craftsmanship, drape, comfort, and timeless appeal.
Mul Chanderi : Soft, luminous, and delicately sheer, woven in the historic town of Chanderi.
Muslin: Feather-light, breathable, and incredibly comfortable—a fabric once treasured by royalty.
Kota Doriya: Lightweight with its distinctive khat weave, perfect for warm weather and elegant dressing.
Georgette: Fluid, graceful, and ideal for beautifully flowing silhouettes.
Banarasi Muslin Cotton: Luxurious, richly woven, and deeply rooted in India's textile heritage. We believe exceptional craftsmanship begins with exceptional fabrics. That is why every piece is carefully curated before it becomes part of a Lajjaa collection.
The People Behind Lajjaa
Lajjaa Clothing is built on the work of many skilled hands—but guided by one vision.
I'm Prachi, the founder of Lajjaa.
From discovering beautiful handcrafted textiles and working closely with artisan communities to curating every collection, photographing products, packing each order, replying to customer messages, and personally ensuring every parcel reaches you with care—I wear every hat behind this brand.
While I may be the face behind Lajjaa, the true soul of the brand lies with the artisans who bring these fabrics to life.
Every Chikankari motif is embroidered by skilled hands. Every woven fabric carries the knowledge of generations of weavers who have dedicated their lives to preserving India's textile heritage.
Lajjaa exists to create a bridge between their craftsmanship and your wardrobe.
When your order arrives, it hasn't travelled through a large company or an assembly line. It has been thoughtfully chosen, carefully packed, and sent with genuine gratitude by someone who deeply values both the craft and the person receiving it.
Thank you for supporting not just a small business, but the many artisan families whose timeless skills continue to keep India's handmade traditions alive.
